This camera is located on private property in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. It overlooks a large freshwater marsh that is partially managed for waterfowl hunting. This property was the breeding territory of male L13-16 and his former mate, L14-16. They nested here from 2019 to 2021. In 2020, they hatched a single chick, and in 2021, they hatched two chicks, raising one almost to fledging before the chick and female were both found dead. L13-16 repaired with a wild-hatched female, LW3-17, and together they have remained on this and nearby property. Although they have built nest platforms here in 2022, 2023, and 2024, she has not produced eggs for them to incubate.
