Saskatchewan River
About Saskatchewan River
This camera overlooks a bend in the river in the Beaver Creek Conservation Area. The sandbar in view captures migrating waterfowl and sometimes cranes roosting on migration. In winter when the river freezes, this bend becomes a wildlife corridor evident by the myriad tracks in the snow. In summer, boating and other forms of recreation are also captured. The South Saskatchewan River is one of three branches of the Saskatchewan River watershed that drains 148,000 sq miles across the Alberta and Saskatchewan prairie provinces. Collectively, it is the furthest north river system in the Great Plains.
