Wood Buffalo Nest Sass
About Wood Buffalo Nest Sass
In 2022, this camera captured the daily rhythms of a whooping crane nest in the Sass watershed of Wood Buffalo National Park, in Canada’s Northwest Territories. This is remote and roadless boreal wetland wilderness and in the core of whooping crane nesting grounds. The Sass watershed was where the first whooping crane nest was discovered in 1954 by a fire crew in a small plane.
*The nest cameras were installed with the permission and under the guidance of whooping crane scientists and associated entities.
