This camera captured the daily rhythms of a whooping crane nest in the rural countryside near Baraboo, Wisconsin. This camera was in place from 2022-2023. The pair of whooping cranes, with nicknames Cloud and Spirit, have been nesting at this location since 2020, the first recorded whooping crane nesting pair in Sauk County’s history. Although they have hatched chicks most years, so far none have made it to fledge.

*The nest cameras were installed with the permission and under the guidance of whooping crane scientists and associated entities.
